Joseph John Thomson was born on December 18th, 1856 in Cheetham Hill, England. He first attended Owens College in Manchester at age 14 but by age 16 left to attend Trinity college due to his father's death. This man was an English physicist that was awarded the Nobel prize in 1906, earned knighthood in the 1912 and the order of merit in 1912. He's famously known for discovering the electron with his experiment of the cathode ray tube in 1897. This was announced in a lecture in April 30 of 1897, which caused debates about his experiment. Despite all his amazing achievements, he is still human. Thompson died in 1940 in Cambridge, England.
